The Galway Marine Innovation Map

Galway and its environs has been developing a growing marine technology cluster. A lot of the development has sprung from its top class third level colleges with both NUIG and GMIT providing teaching and research and development in the marine sphere. Also the influence of the Marine Institute cannot be overstated and the results of its programmes are felt locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. The hugely popular Seafest which brought 50,000 people into Galway City on the final day of this year’s festival is a celebration of this growing recognition of the part played by the marine sector in Galway’s development. It is also part of a national plan ‘Harnessing our Ocean Wealth’ which sets out the Government’s Vision, High-Level Goals, and Key‘Enabling’ Actions to put in place the appropriate policy, governance and business climate to enable our marine potential to be realised.

Geomara is proud to be part of this growing marine hub in Galway which has been wonderfully captured in The Galway Marine Innovation Map produced by @johnbreslin NUI Galway.
